Carol Nadell understands actors. As a former
working actress herself, who made a living both on
and off Broadway and in commercials, she can
appreciate the actor's life - both artistically as
well as financially. For that reason, she chose to
specialize in industrials and independent
films.

The
Industrial industry has changed tremendously over the years and many
actors have a real misconception of what "Industrials" are all about.
What does the term "Industrials" mean in today's world?
Myth #1: Industrials are
in-house training
films.
At one time an Industrial was an army/navy
training film. But wake up and smell the celluloid in the
21st century. Industrials now touch almost every part of
our lives. They are films, videos, live shows, Internet
games, CD ROMS, books on tapes - they are in museums, in
theme parks, in large corporations. Look around you. They
are everywhere.
- But whatever the form, all Industrials have one thing in common.
They are done for a purpose. They are produced to motivate, to train,
to educate, to inform, to make aware, to make money or to market.
No matter how entertaining or creative, each project is produced for
a reason.
-
Myth #2: Actors who do
Industrials are actors who can't get
work.
Clients use Selective Casting
because of our access to high caliber talent. Some of the
most successful working actors in the business take part
in our Industrials. Not only do they make money in a
short period of time, but they can have fun in the
process. And because of our great respect and
appreciation for the profession, the best actors around
keep coming back.
-
Myth #3: Industrials don't
pay that much.
Actors have a passion to be on stage. But more often
than not, theatre jobs do not provide a comfortable income. Industrials,
on the other hand, pay very well. In fact, an actor can make more
money on a one day Industrial than an entire week at the Manhattan
Theatre Club. And, even more importantly, because Industrials fall
under SAG and AFTRA contracts, the salary you accrue from an Industrial
contract helps maintain your union, pension, welfare and insurance
coverage. There is no better game in town. You get to perform. You
get paid. You get benefits.

Selective
Casting also casts selective independent films. Since these films
usually work with small budgets, our involvement is based on a love
of the material - a passion that is often carried through to the actors
we cast. If you are called by Selective Casting to audition for
an independent film, be assured that we believe in the script, the project,
and the people involved.
